Roger D. DeBoer - February 27, 1934 - April 04, 2022

Obituary Preview: Roger D. DeBoer, 88 years of age, of Beatrice passed away Monday, April 4, 2022 at Beatrice Community Hospital and Health Center. He was born on February 27, 1934 on the family farm outside of Panama to Rueben and Elizabeth (Doctor) DeBoer. Roger graduated from Adams High School in Adams in May of 1952. He married Doris Carey on August 20, 1953. Roger worked for the Burlington Railroad until joining the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. After the Army, he attended Universal Trade School in Omaha and graduated in July of 1958. After graduation, Roger and Doris moved to Beatrice and worked for Best Plumbing and Heating. They purchased Noakes Refrigeration from Ralph Noakes in 1961. Roger operated the business until his retirement in 1996. His hobbies included shooting trap where he served in leadership roles in the Beatrice Gun Club for several years, serving as president at the time the current club house was built in 1971, attending sporting events for his children and grand children, hunting, trapping, fishing, farming and raising livestock. After retirement he liked to plant a large garden and tend to his fruit trees. As a longtime member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Beatrice, he served as an usher and a church board member.

Roger is survived by his wife, Doris; sons, Gary and wife Laura, Jay and wife Jodi, Russ and wife Kelly; daughter, Rita Robinson and husband Kerry; sister, Betty Ikerd and husband Jim; sisters-in-law, Linda DeBoer, Wilma Hoeven and husband Jon; and grandchildren and great grandchildren, Lance (Shannon), Laci (Logan), Chase (Kyla), Paul, Adam, Jane, Lucy, Isaac, Gregory, Tagg, Maddox, Finley, Katelyn, Addison, Avery, Ryland, Jackson, Keller and Cohen. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry, parents-in-law, Tom and Stella Carey; and brother-in-law, Don Carey and wife Mildred.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, April 11, 2022 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Beatrice with Rev. Dr. Paixao Baptista officiating. Interment with military rites by the Nebraska Army National Guard Honor Guard and Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the American Legion will follow in the Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 AM in the church parlor. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice from 2 to 8 PM with family greeting friends from 5 to 7 PM. Robert "Bob" Lee Schmidt - January 25, 1936 - April 04, 2022

Obituary Preview: Robert “Bob” Lee Schmidt, 86 years of age, of Jansen passed away Monday, April 4, 2022 at Whispering Winds Cottage in Beatrice. He was born on January 25, 1936 in Plymouth to Carl and Ilda (Sellenrick) Schmidt. Bob was baptized on February 16, 1936 at Zion Lutheran Church near Harbine by Pastor W. Ernstmeyer. He was also confirmed at Zion Lutheran on April 10, 1949 by Pastor Theodore Schmidt. Bob attended grades 1 – 6 at School District 73, grades 7 and 8 at Zion Lutheran School near Harbine and graduated from Plymouth High School. He served his country six years in the Nebraska Army National Guard. On August 8, 1964, Bob married Marjorie Irene Nommensen at Zion Lutheran Church in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They had 3 children; Heidi, Scott and Heather. Bob was a farmer all his life, but also worked for electrician Milton Hueske and worked for Milius Hardware in Plymouth for over 40 years as a service-repair man and in later years as a heating and cooling technician. He also served on the board of the Rural Plymouth Fire Department. Bob was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth for over 55 years, during which he served as an elder, a trustee and a member of the school board and the endowment committee. He loved Husker football and had season tickets most of his life. He enjoyed playing Pitch and Poker with his friends Allen, Bob, Richard and Wayne.

Bob is survived by his wife, Marge; children, Heidi Orth and husband Robert of Beatrice, Scott and wife Kimberly of Olathe, Kansas, Heather Lloyd and husband Korey of Blue Springs, Missouri; grandchildren, Jonas Lloyd, Rebecca and Sara Schmidt and Sienna Orth; step-grandchildren, Braden and Brynley Chrest; brother, Darold Schmidt; brothers-in-law, Dennis Nommensen and wife Joan, Bob Nommensen, Ron Nommensen and wife Lois and Dave Nommensen and wife Laurie, all of Wisconsin; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law; sister, Phyllis; sisters-in-law, Lillian Schmidt and Barbara Nommensen; niece, Janet McGrane; and nephew, Todd Nommensen.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, April 8, 2022 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth with Pastor Fred Berger officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery west of Plymouth. A family prayer service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday at the church. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Plymouth from noon to 8 PM with family greeting friends from 6 to 7 PM. Esther Ann Weichel - November 25, 1924 - March 27, 2022

Obituary Preview: Esther Ann Hasenohr Weichel, of Plymouth, Nebraska, passed away on March 27, 2022 after a long and well-lived life of 97 years. Esther was born on November 25, 1924, at the Lutheran Hospital in Beatrice to Fred Hasenohr and Caroline Spilker Hasenohr. Her parents lived and farmed one mile south of DeWitt. She was baptized on December 21, 1924 in the family home. Esther had a brother, Alvin Hasenohr and sister, Edna Hasenohr Koch. She was confirmed on April 24, 1938 at Trinity Lutheran Church in DeWitt. Her confirmation verse was II Corinthians 5:15; “He died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto Him which died for them, and rose again.”

Esther attended DeWitt Public Schools and graduated in 1942. After a year at home, she attended Lincoln School of Commerce where she graduated as a stenographer on May 26, 1944. After graduation, she worked at the Lincoln Board of Education and the Wickham Plumbing Company. Glenn Herbert Weichel and Esther were married on November 14, 1948 in her parent’s home. They lived in Plymouth until 1960 when they moved one mile east of Plymouth. In 1981, they moved into their home on the north edge of Plymouth. Glenn and Esther had two children, Kathleen Esther and Calvin Glenn. Esther had an interest in helping to promote community projects. She was a 4-H leader for ten years and a charter member of the Peppy Pioneers Extension Club of which she was a member for 52 years. She volunteered at the Braille workshop and Bloodmobile, was part of the Plymouth Silver Circle card group, and served on the election board. Esther had a strong faith and was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Plymouth where she was a church greeter, member of the Ladies Auxiliary, and attended adult Bible classes. As a child, Esther recalled liking to ride bicycle, play the violin, and ride horseback. Esther always liked to sew and do crafts and flowers. She made numerous quilts with her daughter, Kathy. Esther liked to camp, fish, travel, play cards, and attend as many games and events of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as possible. Esther never turned down an opportunity to shop or piece of chocolate. Her greatest joy and pride were her family. She often said she didn’t know how people lived without family or faith; she certainly loved both. Esther is survived by her children, Kathleen Holtmeier and husband, Jack of Plymouth, and Calvin Weichel and wife, Susan of Plymouth. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Chad Weichel and wife, Deb of Plymouth, Kirk Holtmeier and wife, Christa of Plymouth, Chelsea Weichel Stamm and husband, Robert of Bixby, Oklahoma, Marie Holtmeier Goeglein and husband, TJ of Liberty, Missouri, and Michael Holtmeier and wife, Penny of Plymouth. Esther is also survived by her great grandchildren; Kailey Weichel, Hannah Holtmeier, Amelia Stamm, Gavin Weichel, Carter Holtmeier, Emily Goeglein, Mason Goeglein, Caden Stamm, Henry Holtmeier, Sage Holtmeier, Tate Goeglein, Edith Holtmeier, and Mary Holtmeier. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Glenn who died on March 29, 2013, siblings, and grandson, Mark Holtmeier.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Plymouth, NE with Pastor Justin Dauck officiating. Burial will be at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Plymouth, NE. Visitation will be held at the Harman-Wright Mortuary in Plymouth from Noon – 8 pm Tuesday, March 29, 2022. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Plymouth with the church elders in charge. Della Irene Knabe - October 25, 1931 - March 24, 2022

Obituary Preview: Della Irene (Weers) Knabe, age 90, died Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Adams, NE. She was born on October 25, 1931 in rural Diller to John and Minnie (Wenz) Weers. Della was baptized into the Lutheran faith on December 21, 1931 and was a graduate of Diller High School. She also attended Fairbury Junior College and Pershing College in Beatrice.

Della married Wilmer Knabe on November 15, 1952 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Diller and they lived in Beatrice most of their married life. He passed away on March 15, 2014. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Beatrice and a long-time member of their Dorcas Society. Della also sang in the church choir, served as an organist, and taught Sunday School. She was a rural schoolteacher in Jefferson and Gage Counties for 5 ½ years and was a teacher at Martin Luther Home (now known as Mosaic) for 28 years. Della received an honorary Parent Teacher Association life membership pin. She gave many years of volunteer work at the Bargain Box and playing the piano at many nursing homes. She continued to play the piano even after entering the memory care unit at Gold Crest in Adams until Alzheimer’s took that ability away. Della liked to stay busy and did many helpful jobs when she lived at the Villa in Beatrice. Her hobbies were sewing, reading, walking, wrapping hangers, and playing the piano.

She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne (Steven) Philippi of Central City, NE; sons, Kent Knabe and Keith Knabe of Beatrice; 4 grandchildren, Nathan (Beth) Philippi of Kearney, NE, Dana (Mark) Coddington of Lexington, VA; Patrick Knabe of Delray Beach, FL; and Monica (Casey) Opperman of Lincoln; seven great-grandchildren; Seth, Bella, and Claire Philippi, Melody, Noelle, and Caleb Coddington, and Oliver Opperman; her sister Pauline Hatesohl Lindhorst of Clay Center, KS and sister-in-law Iola (Knabe) Ottersberg of Wymore, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Della was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, brothers and sisters-in law; Hilda Knabe, August and Elsie (Knabe) Duensing, Harold Ottersberg, Alvin and Helena Knabe, Arnold and Elaine Knabe, Elvin and Vera (Knabe) Eden, Melvin Hatesohl and Arlo Lindhorst.

Marjorie "Marj" Marie Mammen - August 23, 1930 - March 16, 2022

Obituary Preview: Marjorie “Marj” Marie (Ross) Mammen, 91 years of age, of Western passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Jefferson Community Life and Health in Fairbury. She was born on August 23, 1930 on a farm near Reynolds to Henry and Jane (Bevington) Ross. Marj was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bruning. She attended grade school at a country school south of Hebron and then Hebron High School. Marj married Donald C. Mammen on September 25, 1949 in Bruning. She worked at Brown’s Store in Western for 14 years and Farmland Foods in Crete for 18 years. Marj was a life member of the Western American Legion Post #255 Auxiliary and Saint John’s United Church of Christ in Western. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to many. Marj enjoyed going to her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She touched many hearts, would cook and deliver meals, make trips to doctor’s offices, send cards and made calls to check on all her friend’s wellbeing. Marj was an advocate of the community and township for all the people around her. It was important to her to support local businesses and donate her time to support the township of Western. Marj will be missed by everyone that she touched and is an angel looking over all of us.

Marj is survived by her children, Debra J. Mammen, James D. Mammen and wife Kathy, Dean A. Mammen and wife Rosanne, Jean M. Haskell and husband Scott; sister, Joyce Hohensee and husband Marvin; sister-in-law, Kathy Mammen; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and special friend, Dean Korte. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald on July 29, 2001; an infant son; sisters, Shirley Weimers and husband Duane, Rosalee DeyErmand and husband Dale, Janet Brown and husband Robert, Bonnie Hohensee and husband Leo; brothers-in-law, Ervin and wife Harmine, Leonard and wife Ardene, Delbert and wife Selma, Wilber, Edward; and nephews, Roger Mammen, Marvin Hohensee Jr., Ron Mammen, Kim Weimers and Robert Brown Jr.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Saint John’s United Church of Christ in Western with Pastor Darlene Novotny officiating. Inurnment will be at 9:30 AM Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery near Bruning. There will be no visitation. She was born on February 11, 1935at Holmesville to Chester and Bessie (Bradley) Ellis. Dorothy graduated from Holmesville High School and lived in Gage and Jefferson Counties most of her life. She married Junior Lofing on September 19, 1953 and they raised 4 children on a farm near Diller. They later divorced. Dorothy retired from BSDC after working over 20 years as a Human Services Treatment Specialist. She married Eldon “Zeke” Brott in September of 1989. Dorothy was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Beatrice where she was involved in different circles. She was an avid reader and enjoyed volunteering at the Bargain Box, sewing, quilting and gardening.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Mike Lofing and wife Cheryl of Fairbury, Linda Lofing and husband Don Clifton of Lincoln, Mark Lofing and wife Mary of Shavertown, Pennsylvania, Denise White and husband Mervin of Belvidere; step-children, Stephanie Arbuckle of Weir, Kansas, Matthew Brott and wife Carolyn of Beatrice, Christopher Brott and wife Sabrina of Helena, Montana, Amy Brott of Beatrice; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Clarence Ellis of Powell, Wyoming; and sister, Barbara Ellis of Denver, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Eldon “Zeke” Brott on October 6, 2017.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, March 25, 2022 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Beatrice with Pastor Daryn Bahn officiating. Inurnment will be at 9:30 AM Friday, March 25, 2022 at Blue Springs Cemetery in Blue Springs. There will be no viewing but a register book will be available from 9 AM to 8 PM Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. Garland "Wayne" Duane Vanover - September 17, 1949 - March 08, 2022

Obituary Preview: Garland “Wayne” Duane Vanover, 72 years of age, of Fairbury passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at Jefferson Community Health and Life in Fairbury. He was born on September 17, 1949 in Beatrice to Garland and Verla (Kinaman) Vanover. He served his country in the United States Army and then the United States Army Reserves. Garland married Kathy Schmidt and they later divorced. He then married Shirley Mayhew. He worked several jobs including painting houses, welding, as a mover for Vaughn’s Moving and as a mechanic. Garland enjoyed helping friends out by being a mechanic/fixer upper, camping and fishing with Shirley and loving and caring for many pets. He also enjoyed playing the guitar.

Garland is survived by his son, Brian Vanover of Beatrice; one step-daughter; niece, Shelly Harvey of Indiana; and his min-pin dog, LadyBug. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Verla and Clarence Whitton; father, Garland Vanover; wife, Shirley Vanover; and sister, Yvonne Corey.

A celebration of life where the family will greet friends will be held from noon to 2 PM on Friday, March 18, 2022 at the Veteran’s Club, 701 Dorsey Street in Beatrice. Memorials are suggested to the American Legion in care of the mortuary. Harman-Wright Mortuary and Crematory in Beatrice in charge of arrangements.

Wesley "Wes" Dean Creek - September 22, 1955 - March 05, 2022

Obituary Preview: Wesley “Wes” Dean Creek, 66 years of age, of Crab Orchard passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022. He was born on September 22, 1955 in Beatrice to Pearl (Creek) Izer. On April 16, 1982, Wes married Carla Lovell. They were blessed with two sons and one daughter and later divorced. On December 13, 2002, Wes married his high school sweetheart, Roberta Wolf. He was one of the first employees to be hired when City Sanitary Garbage came to town in 1975. Wes worked there until his health got too bad to work. He also worked at Hoover Group for a while but kept getting laid off so he went back to the Garbage Company. In 1993, Wes started his own trucking business called Creek Trucking, hauling whatever he could haul and later sold it to his brother. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, fishing, drag racing, dirt track racing and building motors for his race cars. Wes had one special car, Goldie. Every winter he would have to replace the fly wheel because he would tear it up. Wes enjoyed Elvis and John Wayne movies and anything that had to do with souped up cars and racing. He also loved to watch Mecum Auto Auction, watching movies on YouTube and his root beer floats.

Obituary Preview: Eloyde Alta (Heidemann) Mueller, 89 years of age, of Lincoln, formerly of Harbine passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Southlake Village Rehabilitation and Care Center in Lincoln. She was born on December 4, 1932 in Jefferson County to Fred and Eunice (Chirnside) Heidemann. Eloyde grew up on a farm in the Plymouth and Daykin areas. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Daykin. Eloyde graduated from Plymouth High School in 1950 and earned an RN degree in 1953 from Lincoln General Hospital. She married Maurice Mueller on October 15, 1955 at Peace Lutheran Church near Plymouth. After marriage, they lived in California before moving back in 1966 to a farm near Harbine. Eloyde worked as an RN at Fairbury Jefferson Memorial Hospital for almost 25 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jansen and then Grace Lutheran Church in Fairbury, LWML and Ladies Aid of Jansen and Leader of the Braille Center #113 at Zion Lutheran Church near Harbine. Eloyde was an American Red Cross Health Service Volunteer for 19 years for both local and national disasters, most notably attending the San Francisco Earthquake 0f 1989 and World Trade Center 9-11 disasters. She loved Husker volleyball and football, watching her grandchildren in their sporting activities, quilting, gardening and traveling with friends and family along with just being with family.

Eloyde is survived by her children, Valencia Mueller of Lincoln, Renee (Michael) Johnson of Sterling, Colorado, Jeff (Sheila) Mueller of Loveland, Colorado; grandchildren, Tiffany Mueller of Lincoln, Spencer (Tink) Johnson and their daughter, Kami Johnson of Frederick, Colorado, Tanner (Reagan) Johnson of Greeley, Colorado, Alice Mueller of Baltimore, Maryland, Anna Mueller of Laramie, Wyoming; sister, Kathleen Nider of Lincoln; brothers, Howard (Linda) Heidemann of Port Huron, Michigan, Robert (Nancy) Heidemann, Donald (Suzanne) Heidemann, both of Plymouth; sisters-in-law, Joan (Kelch) Heidemann, Joyce (Schroeder) Heidemann; and many nieces and nephews. Obituary Preview: John C. Garcia, 82 years of age, of Beatrice passed away Friday, February 25, 2022. He was born on March 15, 1939 in Lincoln to Demetrio and Mary (Martinez) Garcia. John graduated from Lincoln High School in Lincoln in 1957. He married Sharon Ring in 1959 and they later divorced. John served in the Nebraska Army National Guard for 30 years. He moved to Beatrice in 1962. John owned and operated John’s Upholstery from 1971 to 2018. He married Brenda Jenkin on August 13, 1976 in Beatrice. John was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #531 and Bitting-Norman Post #27 of the American Legion where he was a former bartender and club manager. He loved pleasing people and enjoyed socializing with family and friends, serving the people of his community and country, Brenda’s rescue dogs, upholstery work, bowling, billiards and shuffleboard.

John is survived by his wife, Brenda; children, Rhonda Penner of Beatrice, Todd Garcia and special friend Laurie Tart of Beatrice, Michelle Garcia and spouse Lisa Morphis of Exeter, California, Jon Jenkin and special friend Kara Osborne of Omaha, Mike Garcia of Kansas. Gladys attended school in Wymore and Beatrice. She attended and was baptized at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Beatrice. On December 31, 1945, she was united in marriage to Maurice Francis Baete Sr. To this union four children, Maurice Jr., Joan, Ron, and Wes were born. The couple raised their family in Beatrice where Gladys worked at Swift’s, Good Samaritan Home and Beatrice Manor. She was affectionately known to her grandchildren as “Gimme Sugar”. Gladys loved her family, playing Bingo and cards. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Gladys is survived by her daughter, Joan Loseman of Beatrice; sons, Ron Baete and wife Karen of Lincoln, Wes Baete, Sr. of Beatrice; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Lafayette McKinney of California; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Obituary Preview: Shirley “Tudie” Ann (Rehm) Imes, 85 years of age, of Plymouth passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022. She was born on April 18, 1936 at DeWitt to Ernest and Alvena (Rahe) Rehm. Tudie grew up in the DeWitt area, lived in Beatrice for about 4 years and lived in Plymouth since. She was baptized on May 10, 1936 and confirmed on May 28, 1950, both at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plymouth and was a lifelong member. Tudie married Frank Imes on May 12, 1956 in Beatrice. She owned and operated the Rainbow Inn with her husband for 30 years, retiring in 2001. Tudie was a phenomenal cook while owning the Rainbow Inn, peeling thousands of potatoes and frying more chicken than one could count. She also enjoyed watching the Nebraska Huskers. Being in the presence of her family and seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her an overwhelming amount of joy. She was a crossword connoisseur and continued to amaze her family with her ability to complete them until just days before her passing. Tudie had an ornery sense of humor and ability to see the happiness in all situations that carried her family and friends through even the hardest of days. She longed for the day that her body was able to dance again and she is now dancing with Jesus and Frank in eternal glory.

He co-owned Cats Auto Supply from Oct 1987 to Sept. 2004 and presently owned The Family & Friends Event Center. David was proud to serve 24 years on The Beatrice City Council. In that time, he served twice as Council President. David was presently serving on the Beatrice Cemetery Association Board.

Zoe was born an Army brat and much of her childhood was spent traveling and living coast to coast until finally moving back to Beatrice where she attended school. She married Steve Tart on January 16, 1983 and later divorced. They were blessed with 3 children: Jeremiah, Lacie and Stevie. Zoe was a dedicated care giver. She worked for decades as a CNA/CMA over the years. Zoe worked at BSDC, Beatrice Manor, Tabitha and the Beatrice Good Samaritan Society where she became the dietary director. In 2005, Zoe met and fell in love with Warren Bartels and helped raise his 3 children: Michalle, Dustin and Ashley. She enjoyed rock concerts, camping, hiking, fishing, boating, her garden, canning and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Zoe is survived by her father, Kenneth Parrish of Wymore; sister, Annie Jeffery and husband Ron of Virginia; son, Jeremiah Tart; daughters, Lacie Tart and Andrew Ideus, Stevie Parde and husband Todd, all of Wymore; grandchildren, Taylor Tart, Devan Ideus, Koltan Ideus, Huxley Ideus; significant other, Warren Bartels of Wymore; step-children, Michalle Bartels, Dustin Bartels, Ashley Bartels, all of Wymore; and grandchildren, Kadron, Brantley, Arial, Drae and Kaizley. She was born on October 6 1927, baptized October 19 1927 and confirmed April 6, 1941 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Plymouth. Arlene graduated from DeWitt High School in 1945. She married Eldon Wollenburg on June 20, 1948. They established their home at rural DeWitt. To this union two children were born, Jolene Wollenburg Bartling and Eugene Wollenburg. Eldon passed away September 11, 1977 after a lengthy illness. Arlene remarried on January 10, 1982 to Victor Blobaum at Peace Lutheran Church. Victor and Arlene traveled a lot with trips to Germany, Alaska, and Panama Cruises. Victor passed away November 29, 2004. Arlene continued her membership at Peace Lutheran and was involved with several duties for a number of years and was always willing to do her part. After moving to Beatrice, Arlene worked for 20 years at Jan’s Dry Cleaners. She enjoyed making quilts for her grandchildren and great grandchildren and also for people in need. Arlene enjoyed gardening, canning and working with flowers and was a member of Jansen Legion Post #358. Most of all Arlene enjoyed hosting her family for the holidays. Her love was her grandchildren and great grandchildren and treasured her time with her close friends having coffee.

Arlene is survived by Jolene Wollenburg Bartling and husband Allen of Lincoln, Eugene Wollenburg and wife Karen of DeWitt, Tom Blobaum and wife Priscilla of Daykin, Brian Blobaum and wife Carol of Fairbury, Sue Eckerson Paddock and husband Todd of Lincoln, Jeff Blobaum and wife Kim of Blue Springs, Missouri, Kent Blobaum of Omaha; and 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Frieda Burger Bergmeier, Eldon Wollenburg and Victor Blobaum, Brother Gaylord Bergmeier and wife Darline and twin sister Aldene Rehm and husband Alvin.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 11, 2022 at Peace Lutheran Church near Plymouth with Pastor Marilyn Hasemann officiating. Interment will be at 2:00 PM Friday, February 11, 2022 in the Oak Grove Cemetery near DeWitt. Visitation will be held from noon to 8 PM Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice. Memorials are suggested to Peace Lutheran Church in care of the mortuary. Ernest is survived by his sister, Marlene McWilliams and partner David Pargeon of Springfield, Missouri; and several cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arnold; brother-in-law, Joseph F. McWilliams; and Marlene’s best friend/partner, Duane Pavlish.

There is still an owl at the Beatrice Middle School that Dick taxidermized. In his retirement years, Dick loved sitting on his back deck and watching the comings and goings of his neighbors.
