Harwich, Massachusetts John F. Kender, Jr 1928 — 2024 John Kender, 95, of Harwich, died peacefully May 7th. Born and raised in Worcester, the son of the late John F. Kender Sr. and Blanche (Laprade) Kender. John was the husband of the late Adelaide I. (Ryberg) Kender for 49 years. John is survived by his three sons. Steven A. Kender of Brewster his wife Kolleen and their daughters Margot Boehme (Geoff and Blythe-Great-Grand Daughter) of Brewster, Mallory of Somerville and Audrey Corneluis (Kyle) of Georgia. Douglas P. Snelling, 91, was born on June 8th, 1932, to her parents James and Bertha Snelling in Pittsford, VT. She graduated valedictorian of David Prouty High School in 1950, and from there, went to a state teachers' college, and soon learned that teaching was not for her. In 1955, she would enlist in the US Air Force, at a time when it was incredibly uncommon for women to join the military. This would begin an illustrious 14 1/2-year career in active duty, achieving the rank of Captain.
