Leveling as a rogue is not really quick, you’ll have some hard times but you’ll enjoy the END game content as a Rogue.
Indeed, rogue is one of the best classes for solo PVP (World PVP) thanks to the stealth ability.
However, In PvP, Rogues have an incredibly high skill cap, so be prepared to spend a lot of time mastering it.
In PVE, you are the 2nd TOP DPS class in raids, but you’ll face a lot of competition because rogue is generally the most played class in vanilla wow, so.. be patient and you'll get gear eventually.

- Skip all the mobs for quick questing

- Best class 1v1 in world pvp (stealth for choosing when to start the fight)
- 2nd best DPS class in PVE

- Undead rogue is the way to go for PVP with the racial skill for breaking fear.
Rogue weaknesses
- A little bit squishy when solo leveling or when you don’t start the fight in PVP
- Like warrior, it’s an overpopulated class so a lot of competition for gear and spots in groups.
- High skill celling, hard to master.

3. General Tips for leveling as a rogue
Here are some tips to progress quickly during your leveling as rogue in classic wow.
- Efficient use of your finishers:
- Don’t waste your combo point and don’t use your 5 points finished on a 5% hp target for example.
- Be sure to be efficient with your combo points and learn to use it wisely.
- Gouge+ Bandage is your only self healing during combat, use it vs strong targets or in PVP.
- Don’t use Sliceand dice until rank 2 (lvl 42)
Tips LVL 31 : Sword Specialization
At level 31 you will get your first point in Sword Specialization. This Extra Attack Proc will reset your swing timer so if you are about to attack again naturally and this procs the benefit will be wasted.

Let’s say you are auto attacking normally every 2.0 seconds. Your Sinister Strike normally doesn’t interfere with your auto attacks but due to this talent they can now proc the additional sword hit which would reset your swing timer potentially clipping into your normal auto attack cycle.
For this reason, from the point you get Sword Spec onwards you need to use Sinister Strike only after your main hand strike animation. This make it so if it procs off SS you won’t have much of a reset loss if anything at all.
Use the addon “Swing Timer” to be efficient with the talent Sword Specialization at lvl 31

4. Rogue poisons
You will learn how to craft poison at lvl 20. This ability allow rogues to coat their weapon, both on Mainhand and OffHand with poisons.
Instant Poison:
This is your DEFAULT Poison apply to both Weapons while leveling.
Deadly Poison:
More Damage > Instant Over Time, but DoT will take up a Debuff Slot.
Mind Numbing Poison:
Offhand in PvP against Casters.
Crippling Poison:
Use on both for PvP.
Notes About Poisons:
Faster Weapons do not always increase the rate at which you apply Poisons.
Instant and Wound Poison use a Proc Per Minute System (PPM).
This means that regardless of your weapon speed you will be doing the same damage with Poisons.

7. DPS Rotation for leveling as a rogue
Here are a few tips to level up your rogue as fast as you can.
LvL 1-10
- Pick up First AidASAP
- Pick up SkinningASAP (Don’t Sell on AH just vendor)
- Upgrade Your Weapons at Vendors ASAP
- Use Throwing Weapons to ensure safe pulls.
- You get Dual Wield at Lvl 10
- You get Backstab& Pickpocketat Lvl 4
- Use Pick PocketOften. Usable on Yellows or Mobs that other Players are fighting.
- Pick Pocket has its own loot table. Some mobs don’t have Pockets to pick such as Beasts.

8. Best gear for leveling as a rogue
You can focus on the green “Monkey” gear Set with agility + Stam or “Tiger set” with Agility + STR
Agility -> Strength = Stamina -> Spirit -> Intellect
Strength (often abbreviated STR) has the following effects:
- Increases attack power with melee weapons, Rogues gain 1 melee attack power per point of strength.
Agility (often abbreviated AGI) has the following effects:
- Increases attack power with both melee and ranged weapons by 1 for each point of Agility.
- Increases chance to score a critical hit with a weapon.
- You gain 1% critical chance increased for each 29 points of agility.
- Also increase your Armor and Chance to Dodge.
Intellect: Increases the rate at which you level up weapon skill.
Spirit: Increases your Out of Combat Health Regeneration rate.
